I sometimes wonder what happened to my boring, quiet little life. It is no longer boring- at all. It is NOT quiet- someone is always saying and doing something. But I can say that it is fun and totally and completely fulfilling and joyful. We are so blessed and I have an amazing family- my own and our extended families included (even our "sports" family.)
Let's start with Wyatt. Wyatt finished 5th grade last month and now he is off to middle school. He is so busy with sports and school. We are always running him somewhere. Wyatt also was nominated for and received the "Hope of America" award which is given to students who demonstrate the "capacity for leadership, ethical, and moral character and outstanding academic accomplishment." Um, wow!!!! He was so surprised when they called his name out during the assembly. The look on his face was priceless. He tries so hard and is so good at school. We were so proud of him. He also won 2nd place in the 5th grade ancestor essay contest that was put on by the Sons of the Utah Pioneers. He wrote it about my Grandpa Wilkinson's experiences during World War 2 and his time in the CCC's. Wyatt was shocked again.
He is so smart and we know he will go far. He is also pitching for his baseball team, Outlaw Trucking. They aren't winning a lot but he is improving. Matt tries to take him before every game and throws pitches to him so he can get better at batting. Now that school is done he is just having some time just to be hang out and have fun.
Deirdre. Deirdre has been busy too. She has competed in two dance competitions. One in St. George and one in Cedar. She was really nervous but she did awesome. She had a dance recital last month and she was awesome. Grandma and Grandpa W. got to come- yay. We had a lot of fun. The next day was her 1st grade program and it was so cute. I can't believe she is going into second grade- even though she is tall enough that she looks like a 4th grader. She did so great in school. Her teacher, Mrs. Hart was amazing and she kept Deirdre really challenged. She didn't miss one spelling word all year! Smarty pants! Deirdre started playing machine pitch softball. She has done so great. It is fun to watch her. For the summer she is going to keep playing softball, take modern, ballet, jazz and tumbling classes and hopefully we will be able to squeeze in some swimming lessons. Deirdre is obsessed with the clothing store, Justice For Girls. I think she is going to be a fashion designer when she grows up.
Hayden. Hayden graduated from preschool. I can hardly believe he will go to Kindergarten next year. He knows all of his letters and most of the sounds letters make. He has been busy helping Matt out in the yard and planting the garden. He even stopped playing with one of his friends so we could go and buy plants for the garden. Hayden is just like Wyatt used to be. He loves to mow the lawn. And he has such a good, patient dad who will walk slow and let him help push the lawn mower. Hayden is definitely an outside kid. Holy cow! He is always wanting to jump on the trampoline, ride his bike or just run like a wild child. He is always asking us to add numbers for him. It's fine as long as it is what's 5+6- I can do those easily. It's when he asks, "Mom what is 68+97?" Those take me a few to figure out. :) He still has his imaginary fried Austin and he is always telling us about his Dad's jobs and what Austin is doing. It is a total scream to listen too.
He always makes us laugh. Plus he is playing T-ball. How fun that is. He has to have batting gloves and a bat bag. Plus he has to wear sunglasses when he plays. But he can smack the ball. Last week he caught a grounder and he turned and threw it to 1st. The kid on 1st wasn't watching and the ball hit him right in the chest.
Whoops. Hayden has been paying attention to his older brother and sister- he knows how to do things.
Well, Summer is here and we are gearing up for a very busy one. Matt is teaching the first 5 weeks in June and I have classes during 3 of those weeks. So there will be a lot of juggling. I love watching everything my kids do. Especially when they are alone in their rooms or just playing in a ball game. They are precious to me and I love them all (and of course their awesome Dad) so much.
Happy Birthday Deegan
